This haunting and emotionally charged program includes piano trio compositions written in the last three centuries. The award-winning Trio Céleste (Ensemble-in-Residence at UC Irvine) will present Pierre Jalbert's highly virtuosic Piano Trio (1998), Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 2, composed in reaction to the tragedies of WW II, and one of Ludwig van Beethoven's most beloved works, the "Ghost" Trio - one of his crowning artistic achievements.
